St. Augustine Photographer, curated homes of St. Augustine: Mayor Nancy Shaver

Recently I photographed Nancy Shaver, the Mayor of St. Augustine, for a magazine article she is featured in about unleashing femininity in your home and workspace.

Nancy does not consider herself to be ultra-fem—particularly working in the male-dominated sector of city government—but there are pieces of "her" spread around her beautiful home in downtown St. Augustine. She is an art collector (her original Sally Man prints always catch my eye!) and for those who haven't been graciously hosted at her home, she has a wall of wine glasses to choose from, each with a story. I have always felt welcome, as her neighbor and friend, and am excited to share with you a more intimate view of this incredible home and woman.

St. Augustine Wedding Photographer, Vermont Wedding Photographer: A YEAR IN REVIEW (Better late, than never)

I cannot believe I am writing this on March 6, 2017 but there are SO many amazing images I made last year and so many awesome people I met along the way—I can't leave them behind without an awesome recap. 2016 proved to be the first big year of travel for SAP, including weddings and engagements in Chicago, New York, Asheville, Miami & Vermont. 2017 has even more destination weddings on the books.

St. Augustine Wedding Photographer: Oldest House & St. Augustine Distillery Wedding: Ashley & John

Ashley & John celebrated their love at two St. Augustine gems—The Oldest House & St. Augustine Distillery. They got ready at John's parents house near the Bayfront, hiding from each other throughout the morning. It was a destination wedding for a lot of their family (traveling from CA) and they got to see the city lit up for Night of Lights and drink cocktails at our one and only distillery.

St. Augustine Wedding Photographer: Treasury on the Plaza, Nazmin & Kelly Creative Portraits

Nazmin & Kelly hired me to do their creative portraits post-wedding. These "after-sessions" are AWESOME because you don't have the stress of the wedding day and you can stroll around the city without a timeline to follow. :) We took portraits in the Treasury on the Plaza, where they were married only a month prior, and then headed toward the Lightner Museum. It was such a rad evening—here's a few of my favorites.

Vermont Wedding Photographer, St. Augustine Wedding Photographer, Scott Farm Wedding: Jared & Zara

Jared & Zara had their first ceremony & reception in the UK and when they asked me to shoot their Vermont reception—I was almost speechless. Jared is an amazing photographer in Boston and I was sure he had a few folks in mind. My brother grew up with Jared and it was the first wedding I worked with family around.

The day was as I imagined—completely laid back and absolutely beautiful. It ended up being a cold month in Vermont this July and the entire afternoon was a mix of mist and rain. Scott Farm is amazing. It was where Cider House Rules was filmed and even cooler, Jared's grandfather worked on the farm in the 1930's.

St. Augustine Wedding Photographer: The awesome Engagement Session and how to do it right!

This post is not only for my clients but for any couple wondering what this engagement-session phenomenon is all about.

An engagement session is about becoming comfortable with your photographer and learning what it takes to create rad portraits. It's important for the three of us to work together before the big day. It should (in my opinion) be provided to all couples who book a wedding package. Unless, for some reason, they absolutely detest the idea of an engagement shoot (which is okay), or can't make the trip before the wedding because they live in Antarctica (but if that were the case —I'd definitely fly there to shoot it.)

Creative St. Augustine Wedding Photographer: 2015 Year in Review!

2015 was one crazy ride—a year of growth and exploring personal projects— shooting over 20 weddings and elopements and starting Vision for Empowerment, a program teaching photography workshops in Kolkata, India.

Here are a few frames celebrating this year. HUGE thanks to my clients for letting me do my thing (which often means pulling out prisms, light sabers and odd-looking gear) in order to create awesome and unique wedding photos.

Creative St. Augustine Wedding Photographer: Riverhouse Wedding, Lindsay & David Gracey

Lindsay & David were wed, after 13 years together, on October 24, 2015. They stayed at Cedar House Inn downtown, had their ceremony right on the water at the Riverhouse and their reception in the beautiful ballroom. One of the coolest parts of the day was the 2-hour trolley they rented for the bridal party. This not only gave us time to relax and take dozens of photos but also gave their friends a little taste of St. Augustine. And the weather was perfect. Thank you, Child of Prague.

St. Augustine Destination Wedding Photographer: White Room Villa Blanca, Kelsey & Michael Tricoli

Kelsey & Michael take the lead for best reception dancing of the year. Nearly ALL of their guests found their way to the dance floor and I am in LOVE with the expressions that Kelly & I were able to capture throughout night. My favorite part? The aunts dressed as flappers.

Creative St. Augustine Wedding Photographer, White Room Wedding, Villa Blanca at the White Room: Brooke & Ryan

Brooke & Ryan were married on June 14, 2015. It was a hot day (ask any of the groomsmen, who hung at the fort in the afternoon sun, before grabbing beers at Meehan's) but the indoor ceremony inside The White Room, along with a reception overlooking the Bayfront couldn't have been sweeter—or cooler. I met Brooke & Ryan last spring and knew immediately that I was going to have a blast working with them. We have since became friends, as Brooke yelled as I was packing up our gear at the end of the night, "Sarah, we can hang out now!" I am so happy for the both of them and for not once complaining about the blanket of humidity that hung over us as we took portraits on Charlotte Street. They turned out gorgeous.
