St. Augustine Wedding Photographer, Vermont Wedding Photographer: 2017 Year in Review

What a year...

2017 was NUTS—I spent almost every weekend in October in a different city. I shot my first International wedding in Mexico for my friend/photo mentor, Lindsay Pullen, and love of her life. I photographed more gay weddings than any previous year and was part of TWO pride weekends, one in Baltimore and Seattle. I began building my wedding biz in Vermont (more successfully than in 2016) and was able to spend most of the summer near my family.

I look back on 2017...

as a year I should learn from. Although I love to travel, too many planes and car rentals wrecked havoc on my system and my anxiety levels this fall were at an all-time high—particularly in September, when the city of St. Augustine was hit again by a hurricane Irma. I was so lucky this did not affect any of my clients, but this event has made me more aware of the rising sea levels and the risk we take living in a beautiful coastal city.

Most of all, I believe in a thing called love...

and even though I haven't found that person yet (as my friends often ask me, what's it like being a single wedding photographer every weekend?!) —I am hopeful that I will. My clients (many, I now call friends) have shown me all types of love. Meeting in college, meeting through family friends, meeting 10 years ago in high school or TINDER only 9 months ago. There are so many ways to meet people in this world and although this can bombard us with options, I think there's a purpose for all of these meetings. I look forward to the journey. Thank you for showing me, even in one of the darkest years of my lifetime, (politically and socially) that love is really all we need—for our partners, families, neighbors and those thousands of miles away from us. Shooting weddings has allowed me to relish in what I believe is one of the foundations of humanity, shared love.
